2017 CGC Summer Institute

CGC Summer Institute 2017

Works in Progress:
Supporting Graduate Communication Skills for Academic and Professional Contexts

June 7-10, 2017

Hosted by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey,
California, USA

The 2017 Summer Institute builds on the success of the 2016 institute at Yale University. The work of developing our field of graduate communication, our programs and courses, our theories and pedagogies is decidedly in progress. This year’s Summer Institute convenes in the stunning setting of northern California’s Monterey Bay to share our triumphs, discuss our challenges, and plan our future teaching, research, and program development. We invite colleagues who support graduate students’ written and oral communication in both academic and professional contexts to present, discuss, collaborate, and learn about works in progress.

Keynote Speakers

Christine Pearson Casanave, Visiting Faculty, Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey; Adjunct Professor, Temple University, Japan Campus

Christine Tardy, Professor, University of Arizona

Jane Freeman, Director, Graduate Centre for Academic Communication, University of Toronto

Nigel Caplan, Associate Professor, University of Delaware; Co-Chair, Consortium on Graduate Communication

Panel Discussions
