2023 CGC Summer Institute (College Park)

Connection, Sustainability, and Diversity in Graduate Communication Work

June 21-23

University of Maryland, College Park

We are happy to announce the next CGC Summer Institute, which will be held in person at the University of Maryland, College Park, June 21-23, 2023. Our theme will be Connection, Sustainability, and Diversity in Graduate Communication Work. We are continuing the formats of Works-in-Progress, Workshops, Special Interest Networking Groups, and Research Presentations. 

The Summer Institute registration fee will be $175 with CGC membership
For non-members, registration with membership is $230 (for Individual membership), $205 (for Part-Time/Student/Global Membership), or $250 (no membership).

Conference Location

The 2023 CGC Summer Institute will be held at the University of Maryland, College Park.  All meetings will be in Tawes Hall.  You can find a campus map here.

Travel

College Park, Maryland is conveniently located just a few miles from Washington, DC and is easily accessible by public transportation. The region is served by three airports and Amtrak; find out more about getting to campus from the airports or Amtrak here. 

College Park is on the Green Line of the Washington DC Metro. A free shuttle is available for transport from the College Park Metro Station to campus; it is approximately a 25 minute walk from the Metro to Tawes Hall. Detailed descriptions of how to get to Tawes Hall via public transportation can be found here.

Parking is available on campus for $15 daily; the closest parking garages are Union Lane and Mowatt Lane Garage are each about a 10-15 minute walk to the conference building.

Lodging

The CGC decided not to use a conference hotel for this conference, but individuals can make reservations at one of two hotels that are within easy walking distance of the conference location of Tawes Hall. The Hotel at the University of Maryland is located close to the College Park Metro Station and is approximately a 15 minute walk to the conference building. The College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center is located at the western edge of the University of Maryland campus and is about a 10 minute walk to the conference building.

Conference participants may also decide to stay at a hotel or rental in Washington, DC and travel to College Park. Detailed descriptions of how to get to Tawes Hall via public transportation can be found here.
